Upgrade our main server?

Well, it finally has come time again for us to all decide whether we want to upgrade the server and up the performance.

Right now we are rolling with...

Specifications
-Intel Xeon-Lynnfield 3460-Quadcore
-4GB DDR3 RAM
-1TB HARD DRIVE
~~~~~~~~~~

I am thinking of upgrading the server to 8GB DDR3 RAM, but it comes with raising the monthly cost to $235

Edit: Or, we could just raise the current one 6GB DDR3 RAM to see if it has a performance increase and only raise our costs to $215

What do you guys think?

well, on the upsides, it'll help to improve performance like you said, and should make things run a little smoother for the server.

on the downsides, the increased price as you pointed out, and the fact that the servers seem to run just fine atm (or at least they do in my opinion).

I'd say upgrade it, nothing wrong with a better performance.

things run fine the way they are for me. i say just let our donations last longer.

I added it in my last edit, but we could also just have 2GB more of ram for $20 less to see how it runs. I just have been getting some complaints and we are pushing the server a little drier than one normally should.

I think you should double it. Even though there isnt any lag i know of, its still good to have a betta performance like others have said. And plus, if ppl rlly like NotD, they would donate no matter what.

I say we go with the 6GB of ram for now see how it does and if all goes well i say we go to 8GB of Ram :3

I agree with Kittymonster here, I think we should upgrade to 6GB to see if it has a performance boost because there isn't point in spending extra money if its not needed.   If that works out nicely, then upgrade to 8GB.

What is our monthly cost right now, isn't it around $200 dollars? I would say go with the 8GBs, you could never have too much, and it will eliminate any lags issues. I think we are doing good enough in donations every month, so why not.

u can only run 6gb if it is a triple channel board i thought  .. i think  ... so its either 2 .. 4 ... 8  .. and 16 i think ?

6gb seems to be the sweet spot and 8 would most likely not get used as efficiently.
