Vista help?
« on: July 10, 2010, 12:35:32 PM »
Alright, yesterday, I got a message saying that there is 1 new windows update ready to install bla bla bla, so I thought 'what the heck' and installed it.

Boy was that a mistake...

Now it fucked up everything. When it tried to restart, it wouldn't. It came up with the windows repair thing and it did a scan, and it the end it was like 'you computer is unable to start'. So I'm like wtf? So I tried to start it in safe mode, and did the same exact thing.

So next, I tried to do system restore which was on the menu with the windows repair, and it wouldn't do anything.

So finally, I had to boot my computer with my vista CD. That worked, but then I got the stupid Vista black screen of death, and had to run msconfig and run explorer.exe to get it to bring me to my actual desktop. And still, a lot of my programs won't run and my internet keeps going out and shiz.

All I want to know, is how to delete that stupid windows update. I know to go to programs list and I know where to find the list of updates installed, but there is no dates or anything next to them, so I have no idea which one it was that I just installed that is messing up my computer.

Arg, I need help.

And yes, I know. Vista sucks

if you're able to, do a system restore to a point before yesterday. best to restore it to a point no earlier than last week.

see if that works for you

I have Vista too, and I've never had something like that happen. Are you sure it was a Windows update, and not something pretending to be because I haven't had an update in like a week.

Of course it's Vista so anything is possible I guess. Try doing the system restore from the Vista CD. I don't know if it will work though, I hope you get it straightened out.

Nah, it's all good for right now.

It took a lot of work, but it's running fine.

The only problem is that I'm scared if I ever turn off my computer again, then it will happen again when trying to start it up.

But I guess that's alright, since I rarely ever turn it off. I only turn off the monitor, not the computer

Well you could always go to the store that you bought it from and ask them to fix it?
Thats what I'm planning on doing with my laptop at least. lol.
But, now i understand why you said system restore is blah.
