o.O vicious program attack
« on: April 12, 2010, 10:19:07 AM »
i was infected by virus protector the past few days ,  if you dont have malware protection i recomend finding something or it could take over your pc as well.

its a money scam program. you cant do anything with it and anytime u click anything it says buy the product to get rid of the threat when the program itself was the real problem...

it made a fake admin user account an took over everything after makin harmless files an sayin i was under attack  no close options task manager didnt open because of it.

i had to use the c: command prompt safe mode and use system restore command.

%systemroot%/system32/restore/rstrui.exe

took a while to figure out i tryed everythin and the xp disc to reformat didnt work either . i'm lucky whoever created it forgot/didn't know about that command.

I havent had a virus since 03. I've fixed mainly of them. But he is right though. About 70%-80% are from porn, 10%-15% are ads and hacked sites, 5%-15% are from infected emails.

Best solution get an antivirus. Get Avast/AVG (Free)

Then get malware.Get Malwarebytes/A squarded (Free)

Registry Cleaner. Get Ccleaner

Backup Weekly. Get a schedule set .

Clean your computer every week.  Get a schedule set.

Also was your virus vista internet security or internet security 2009/2010

I didn't click anything it forced its way onto my hardrive.

i looked for hidden folders/files  in every sub system on my pc before turning it off but it had taken over by the next morning.

so now i have 3 programs instead of 2 for keepin things out of my pc. 4 if u are goin to be technical and count the windows firewall..

could have 5 but reinstalling a free anonymizer every month is too much hassle.. :P

I think i have one hiding, the other day i went into my css folder and there was 2 BITTORRENT.exe in there and the filepath was blank. i said OMFG and uninstalled bittorent and deleted them. And yes I get that screen where ur on the web and it highjacks the browser and says u need to scan ur computer in fake windows popups, and the only way to get rid of it is taskmanager, Cause i never click shit like that, the x button could be rigged >:(
