The general rule is to keep them to a minimum because when everyone has the most powerful weapon the difficulty curve drops to an unacceptable level.

If you see 2-3 guys using machine guns please don't buy one...

'Cause when I was playing a while back with a Para, I was told to drop it. Then I play today and see someone using it.
