Computer Building
« on: February 14, 2009, 07:58:53 PM »
Well guys, would anyone be interested in building me a full computer off of newegg products with a budget of $2000 dollars? I'm going to try to save up for a nice custom built and I'm wayyyy to lazy to spend the time finding all my wanted stuff.

Yeah so just build me some amazing computer with $2000 (I perfer you use newegg.com please)

Ok so you got 2000 dollars to spend, why settle for anything less then the best? I would go with the core i7, you can build a way better system for 2000, then the 2300 dollars system lespy posted. I agree with the PII system lespy posted if your a little more on a budget side, but you got 2000s to spend, why not go for an i7 setup? Here are my thoughts....

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/TemporaryWishList.aspx?ChangeQty=0

Case: I would go with the one I listed, or the antec 1200, there both very good cases with lots of air flow and room for upgrades.

Motherboard: Very good board if you plan on overclocking or not, has a dummy OC feature in the bios, 1 click brings you up to 3.4 ghz. Btw Evga cust support is the best in class.

Video card: I would go with a single GTX 295 rather then two 280s, the 295 is two gpus in one and also draws less power, in some cases out performs if not the same as the 280s and the 295 cost less.

Power Supply: Cannot go wrong with corsair Power Supplies best in class imho. 1000 watts for future upgrades, maybe another 295  ;D .... Watch out these tend to be DOA, just like when I bought mine, I dont know why that is.

Cpu: i7 920, alot for overclocking can be done with it. Ive got it to 4ghz on air!! My temps were resonable too, 40 idle and nothing over 65 on load. Went back down to stock though.

Ram: Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600, runs good at stock speeds and can get to over 1800 easily.

Hard Drive: VelociRaptors are 10,000 rpm drives and are very fast. Although you can get two WD caviar blacks in raid zero and be just as fast for about the same price.

Total is about $1,998.94, give or take combo deals, mail in rebates and tax.

This comp should last about 3-5 years with upgrades.

Btw PII systems are bad ass and cost less, not as good as i7. Btw Just noticed that I didnt post a Cpu cooler, google thermalright or true its for socket 1366, best on the market imo. If its from newegg, then the cooler master v8 or the Noctua. the noctua has 2 fans, wich gives you a push/pull effect, but with the evga board you can only use 1 fan  :( .... These things are huge, if you use either case Ive listed above, be prepared that the window fan will be useless.
