We need to make a group effort to improve this. We started out well this year but now our numbers suck

Actually I agree with this, consider this there are many factors when it comes to posting and even though spam does not count for your post count it might count in that, so maybe there was more spam last year, maybe more ban requests last year, maybe more ban appeals last year or maybe more drama topics last year. Basiclly all I'm saying is that it's what the posts are about more then the number of posts done in a month.

Unfourtunately its the most accurate way to determine the site's activity ATM

other 3 methods-
New topics created per month reflect the same numbers
New members per month steadily rise until September, which I found odd
Most online per month is crap because of all the guests we have(why ARE THEY HERE?! )

No...I'm really not. The NotD forum was literally the first one I've ever gone to, so I don't really see how the amount of posts within a 1-year time span would really be an issue.

i think the chart is very interesting. the 1st thing i thought was what drama was going on during the peak months of 2010.... lol

I think its fine, but it is really cool to look at the forum stats and the chart. I also agree with sorrow, it was a lot of drama from last year to the beginning of this year that caused those numbers.

maybe ill just become a post whore and start blabbing forever on every topic i can find then the post count will go up and we'll be a better forum?

we are talking about a couple thousand post discrepancy per month, noone here can individualy make a dent in that.
The importance is that it shows that forum activity is down, so ask yourself what you need to be doing to help the forums out.
Ive been doing my best(I first noticed it about 2 months ago) to comment more and create more threads to raise overall activity. If it isnt important to you than dont worry about it, this is just one more thread full of comments to raise us to our monthly goal
