ZH Objectives?

Um... I know this post is for a dead topic, and I know the server has been down for a long time. But Why is the ZombieHell Objective server down? I've only been a part of the community for a short time and I'm curious why. It seems like a great concept and it sounds fun.

as far as i know, (and i do not know why exactly it ot closed) but in day 5.. there were like 200 elgigante bosses, and it was impossible to go around because you got constantly tossed around

That was an old issue that got taken care of shortly after I brought it up when the server was still around.

The biggest reason was that there wasn't enough maps that would work. I think that was what killed it in the end myself since we got sick of playing the same 2 maps over, and over again. It was a lot of fun though.

THIS was the reason it went down. There was only 1 map that actually worked without any flaws (save the fact that one couldn't crawl through vents), the other 2 were broken. One map placed a person inside of some sort of hotel/lab/hospital place where you had to escape via helicopter, but when someone got into the helicopter nothing would happen. The other map placed the players in an urban environment, and the map had a lot of bugs that made it impossible to play. The map that actually worked placed the players in an abandoned underground train station that (except for the vents, like I said) had no issues at all and actually worked the way it was supposed to.

Personally, if I knew how to make the objectives work in a map (let alone make them on the Source engine), I would definitely make some maps for the ZH-Objectives server if it was still up.

It was, actually. Just ended up getting too damn repetitive with only 1 map that actually worked and could be finished, 1 that could be played through but not finished, and 2 maps that were just too screwed up to even play through to the end.

Broken sections of the map. For example, to proceed through one area, you had to crawl into a vent, but the vent was too small for someone to crawl into, which stopped the players from proceeding unless an admin was in there at all times to help.

Yep, that's exactly where they came from and exactly why they didn't work (well, at least all the broken ones anyways).

In a nutshell, no, there is no way of fixing the maps (unless you can get permission to do so). And there are no other Objectives maps because they don't normally exist. The maps we had originally came from a game called Zombie Panic: Source from what I could tell.
